  • The Translational Pathology Core Laboratory (TPCL) is a research facility in the UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Shared Facility. Since 1996, the TPCL has provided an array of pathology-related services in support of basic, translational and clinical research at UCLA. Our mission is to provide the highest quality pathology services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The TPCL also provides expert consultative services to investigators in pathology-related study design, tissue selection, microscopic interpretation, immunohistochemistry/in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection, digital image analysis, and IRB-related tissue questions.

  • The Immune Assessment Core is a comprehensive source of immune assessment testing services for basic, clinical and translational studies. The full service laboratory performs various immunological assays to evaluate the innate and adaptive immune status of study subjects.

The Immune Assessment Core focuses on developing assays using cutting edge, high throughput technologies. We obtain the highest quality data to survey the immune system using small sample volumes. This is achieved by providing validated assays with multiplexed capacities. We work closely with our clients to assist with analysis and interpretation of the comprehensive data sets to ensure they get the most out of the samples they have collected. In addition to the above mentioned assays, the core performs customized assay development to meet the client's developing needs.

  • The Clinical & Translational Research Laboratory (CTRL) offers a full range of cost-effective laboratory testing to support your research efforts. The laboratory performs routine chemistry tests (basic metabolic panel, comprehensive metabolic group, electrolyte panel, hepatic panel, lipid panel and individual tests), thyroid function tests, fertility tests, tumor marker tests, basic coagulation testing and routine urinalysis testing. These tests are performed in the CTRL lab; however, referral tests can be sent to the UCLA Clinical Laboratory or outside reference laboratories. New assays not on the test menu can be validated and performed to meet the needs of individual research investigators.

  • The Biological Samples Processing Core (BSPC) offers DNA extractions from whole blood and other tissue types utilizing the Autopure LS nucleic acid purification instrument from Gentra Systems. Extracted DNA can be returned immediately or stored indefinitely at the BSPC in a -20°C freezer, for future use. The core also aliquots DNA at desired concentrations. All samples are logged in the BSPC database and are bar-coded with their sample number and customer's identification code.

  • The Technology Center for Genomics & Bioinformatics (TCGB) is a fully automated, high-throughput genomic facility equipped with all major next generation sequencing and microarray platforms. TCGB provides next generation sequencing and microarray-based genomic services, including Whole genome sequencing, Whole Exon Sequencing, Whole Transcriptome Sequencind (RNA-Seq), Small RNA Sequencing (miRNA-Seq), Targeted Resequencing, Methylation Sequencing (Methy-Seq), SNP Genotyping, in a cost-effective and timely manner to serve basic science, translational, and clinical researchers
